Christmas market route in Malaga

christmas market souvenirs

One of the main attractions of Christmas is the traditional markets. Lights, stalls selling handicrafts, and stands selling traditional seasonal sweets transform the city into magical places to enjoy with the family. This route of Christmas markets in Malaga explores some of the most iconic places that are a must-see at this time of year.

Christmas markets in Malaga

  • Paseo del Parque Market

This is Malaga's main Christmas market and a meeting point for visitors and locals during this special time of year. It will be open from November 28 to January 6, making it ideal for shopping throughout the Christmas season. As well as having the largest number of Christmas stalls in Malaga (around a hundred), it also stands out for its program of activities, which includes children's workshops and live music. It is open every day from 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.

  • Muelle Uno Market

The festive atmosphere also extends to the shores of the Mediterranean. From November 28 to January 11, this section of the Port of Malaga is transformed into the picturesque village of Colmar (Alsace), recreating the atmosphere of the typical Christmas markets of northern France. It is an ideal place to buy handmade Christmas decorations, discover fashion stalls and original accessories, or enjoy the typical flavors of this time of year. It is open from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.

  • Palmeral de las Sorpresas Market

Also very close to the sea, on the Paseo Marítimo, is one of Malaga's most popular Christmas markets. The Palmeral de las Sorpresas market is a wonderful combination of one of the city's most beautiful promenades and a range of top-quality Christmas goods. It also connects to Muelle Uno, making it perfect for those who want to extend their route. Around thirty stalls make up this market, which will remain open from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. until January 6. H2: Christmas markets in Marbella

  • Avenida del Mar Market

Since November 28, with the switching on of the lights, Marbella's Avenida del Mar has been filled with Christmas spirit. This year's theme is dedicated to the elves' workshop, and apart from the typical stalls found at this time of year, there is an extensive program of activities with surprises for the whole family, such as crafts, storytelling, and performances. This Christmas market in Marbella will remain open until January 5 from 12:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

  • Market in the square in front of the church in San Pedro Alcántara

The Christmas market in the Plaza de La Iglesia in San Pedro Alcántara is short but intense. It is only open on the weekend of December 19-21, so it is geared towards pre-Christmas shopping. It is particularly notable for its shows, which include juggling, stilt walking, and even fire performances. It is a truly magical place among the wide variety of Christmas markets in Málaga. It is open from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

A great way to round off these activities is to visit the Nueva Andalucía Christmas Market on Saturday, December 20, at similar times. It's a great place for those looking for organic products, antiques, and crafts

  • Marbella Christmas Bazaar

The most charitable aspect of Marbella's Christmas markets is the traditional Christmas Bazaar in aid of Cáritas. It is held between December 11 and 14 at the city's Trade Fair, Congress and Exhibition Center from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Previous editions have attracted more than 6,500 visitors, confirming the popularity of this great Christmas event that allows even the most disadvantaged to enjoy the festive season.
